TV Bioenergy Coppice is the UK's third
short rotation coppice producer group. The group was officially launched
at the South East Renewable Energy Conference held in Reading in
December and is now working towards grower recruitment.

TV Bioenergy Coppice offers
the following services to its members:
-
Preferential access to
markets through TV Bioenergy.
-
Expert advice regarding
all practical issues.
-
One to one help with
grant applications.
-
Training and technical
support through events and members area of website.
-
Co-ordination of
activities across the region to reduce costs to growers.
-
Access to international,
European and UK best practice.
At the moment the main market for short
rotation coppice in the south east is Slough Heat and Power, a 40MW
power station utilising woodchip as its main fuel source. There are
however a number of new developments underway such as the Bracknell town
centre redevelopment which will include a biomass combined heat and
power plant and a number of small scale heating installations.
In the future there is also the possibility of co-firing short rotation
coppice with coal at existing large scale power stations. Through the
producer group members will be given priority access to these markets
therefore ensuring fuel sales.
We would like to welcome new members who
will be joining the group this year:
Mark Paulson, CRL who will be planting 4 hectares of SRC in Oxfordshire;
Ben Gibbons, Leckford Estate, who will be planting 3 hectares of SRC in
Hampshire.
TV Bioenergy Coppice currently has 3 founding
members:
